We just finished week 4 of camps! Last week, we held two elementary school camps, one in Luodong and one in Keelung. We have held many camps in Keelung in the past, but this was our second year at this particular elementary school. Many of the 70 kids that attended this year’s camp ended up being repeats from last year, and as a result, we were able to connect with the students very quickly. However, this proved to be a small problem in itself, as the kids were sometimes a little too comfortable with us!

This week had its own share of challenges - for example, because the camp was held in an elementary school, we had no air conditioning, and there weren’t too many church members that could help us out as small group leaders. Additionally, some members taught classes that they weren’t accustomed to teaching, causing us to sometimes be placed in uncomfortable situations. However, through these challenges, we learned to trust God even more, relying on him for energy, focus, and direction as the week went by.

We also got to go on 8 house visits during the week. About half of the families were repeats from last year, but the others were families that the local church was able to connect with for the first time through these visits. During the camps, the kids were also really curious about the gospel and asked a lot of questions about the Bible, God and Jesus. It was so great to see these kids grow, not just from the past year, but also throughout the week. By the end of the week, we were all truly sad to see each other go, and many of the parents also expressed their gratitude and awe at the team’s willingness to serve.

We are now on the final stretch, as we only have two camps remaining, one at Huajiang High School in Taipei and one in Yingge. We just got back from our Hsinchu and Huwei camps, so stay tuned for those updates! Please keep us in your prayers, for good health and lots of energy, and for God to fill us with his love!
